About

Founded in 2018 by a group of Hudson residents concerned about environmental issues ranging from recycling to conservation and energy policy, Green Hudson seeks to help the town become more environmentally friendly, through outreach, education, and direct action.
We are primarily focused on local projects that enhance and beautify Hudson, as well as make our community more energy efficient and resistant to the likely effects of climate change. Our past activities have included:
- Sponsoring annual town-wide clean-up days
- Advocating for a reduction in Hudson’s consumption of single use and hazardous plastics, sponsoring successful initiatives to pass by-laws to prohibit single-use plastic bags by town businesses and to reduce the use of polystyrene and black plastic in town
- Managing recyclable and compost collections at Hudson Fest and the Rotary Club’s Brewfest
- Participating with Sustainable Stow in the Mass HeatSmart program
- Conducting a survey and report of manufacturing business in the Town’s Watershed Protection District
- Improving opportunities for heat pump and solar installation rebates in Hudson
- Improve recycling and conservation in Hudson
- Increasing knowledge around the importance of local action to prevent human-driven climate change.
- Information booths at Hudson Fest, Rec Fest, and the Volunteer Fair
All are welcome to join Green Hudson’s monthly meetings which feature speakers, conversation, planning, and reporting on active projects. Green Hudson currently meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 6pm downstairs in the Union Hall at the Unitarian Church at 80 Main Street in Hudson.
